SoundSmith by Hearthlight Creative Studios

From creative intent to finished master

A seven-stage browser workflow that keeps analysis, assistance and adjustment in view.

SoundSmith mastering workflow

  1. Add your track

Choose a source file through the browser. The file is opened for local processing rather than retained as a cloud audio upload.

  2. Review the initial analysis

Inspect the available waveform, balance, dynamics, stereo, transient, loudness and true-peak information before processing.

  3. Describe your intent

Use an illustrative direction such as “warmer and more intimate”, “clearer spoken narration”, “balanced for a YouTube music video” or “retain dynamics while increasing perceived level”.

  4. Review the mastering direction

SoundSmith translates intent and analysis into adjustable mastering choices for you to assess.

  5. Adjust the controls

Shape relevant EQ, compression, limiting and other available settings. Suggested values remain under your control.

  6. Compare the result

Use the original/master comparison and listen carefully to what changed before accepting the direction.

  7. Export and record

Export the finished master and save relevant metadata, settings or provenance records according to your plan.

The important distinction

What happens to my audio file?

Your source recording is handled locally in the browser for mastering. SoundSmith does not retain it as a cloud audio upload.

Account details, selected settings, prompts, metadata, mathematical analysis and archive records may be saved where the product and plan require them. These are not copies of the source recording.

Local processing performance depends on the browser and device being used.
